Travel insurance - hmm!. In Feb I took out a travel policy (for me - my wife has cover through her bank) for our planned USA trip in April. That was Covided off so I contacted the insurance broker to ask what happens about the policy. 'You can either have 50% back or you can postpone it until you redo the trip' they said. 'OK, I'll postpone it as we do want to do the trip' We agreed on ficticious dates just to keep the thing live. I then got an email - 'because of the administration involved we want another £50' (25% of the policy cost).
Perhaps someone more versed than me in insurance office bureaucracy could explain why what seems like two minutes maximum of computer keystrokes is worth a quarter of the risk of paying for me spending a month in US intensive care. Or is it just open market economics - someone has taken a chance on me paying rather than having to start again - a £50 'loss' vs a £100 loss if I cancel.
