I saw a few of the early Heskeths when I was working at Silverstone (they had some kind of event there) and I wasn't impressed. Clanky 'worthy' devices that would only appeal to 'motorcyclists' while 'Bikers' rode Ducatis. Years later I saw the same kind of mindset applied to the content of the Millennium Dome - I'm not sure if there's a synonym for worthy but that's what it was. Nothing wrong with it, it was just Disneyland as conceived by primary school teachers: worthy edutainment.
Time though is the great revisionist and I suspect there's a degree of rose tinted hindsight going on - "Heskeths - yeah, they're solid as the Bank of England (!), built back in the days when we could make stuff. No cheap Chinese parts in there, just good old British craftsmanship"
