I'm a bit behind you there - only 43 years 3 months since I started. Last time I added up, I had done over 250,000 miles on motorcycles, over a million in cars and 60,000 in motorhomes. In all that, I cannot recall one instance where I thought "If only I had had a noisier vehicle that suituation could have been avoided" or "if only another vehicle had been noiser I would have noticed it sooner".
"Quiet efficiency is the hallmark of the expert" - a virtual Brownie point for placing that statement, which goes back a long way and is as relevant today as it was then.
If we as a minority group don't voluntarily excercise restraint, then more draconian restraint will be imposed upon us - that is happening now & the severity of the restrictions will be increased until "they" get the results they are looking for.
We really don't need to be handing "them" excuses with spurious "reasons" such as "loud pipes save lives", "that would sound better with megas", "I can knock it off in restricted areas", "I saved 2kgs" or whatever other excuses get made up to try to justify being an annoyance.
