I moved from west London to Dartmoor village of Belstone 1000 feet above sea level my children were two years behind in education sorted by the teachers
The village is relatively unspoiled Pub a church and village hall 250 inhabitants and most been there for years our house fronted the village green ten bedrooms four exception. And a lot cheaper than our London house it had vertu ally no heating which I put in after the first winter I ran my clock repair business from there my Maz worked at the local chicken farm. Was the local milk lady with her Acivan out on the moors.. Plus Gardening. And of course B&B this was before the new A30 Okehampton bypass was built.. There for around twenty years the village changed more visitors the old villagers dying off it just wasn't the same then the band of so called hill walkers came t the village with there ski poles etc parking everywhere not in the carpark I and others built people would be looking in your windows capping in the car park.. We moved t wasn't the same I now live in a village of 1300 people a moderish bungalow off the road near to city centre near the sea and the three houses on our little private area all good neighbours..
But not ll places are for everyone I loved the moors my kids still live there with thier families
But at Eighty I don't need that now done it and got the T shirt
