I rode my roommate's CB350 Honda back in school (1974 or so). It wobbled all over the road, like the frame was broken.
I brought it back and said "Something's bad wrong with this!" He said "I maintain it pretty well. I just adjusted the chain yesterday".
I checked and BOTH rear axle nuts were loose, very loose. I showed him, and he said "Well, I adjust them like that so that the back wheel can turn. If they don't have some play, won't it lock up the back wheel?"
His technology level wasn't even to the level of a Greek chariot wheel. He thought the wheel and axle turned together in the frame ...
So if he'd been turned loose on a dynamo chain, he'd probably be using the "G" string on a guitar to tune it .... !
