Same as the last time such a discussion took place, you don't seem to want to acknowledge that a modern, short stroke, low geared 125 is a very different riding experience to a "traditional" long stroke, high geared 350/500 single.
You won't be "plodding" on that AJS, you will be "buzzing" - while you get kicked about the potholed disgraces that pass for roads in this country due to the low weight & super budget suspension. And from the little I have heard of the Chinese AJS's it is probably just as well that parts are available & cheap - reliability & build quality don't appear to be strong points.
There is more to a bike than it's top speed - how it gets there is likely to be more important to someone looking for a bike for leisure use than to someone looking for a cheap commuter.
Fortunately we have the choice.
