Also, by definition, the "purchase" is covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations which - amongst other rights - gives your missus the right to return the goods within 28 days of receipt for a full refund (she must notify Amazon within 14 days of receipt that she intends to returns them then she gets another 14 days to actually send 'em off - obviously she should at least get a Proof of Posting from the Post Office then).
Much as it sounds good to involve the Old Bill, there are quicker and less time-consuming ways of getting her money back?
