I can remember when Computer CAD systems first came in and monitors were not that brilliant, I worked in an office for about 3 years where the windows were blacked out, minimal ventillation, and just about everyone smoked so the room was very dim thanks to the subdued lighting, and was thick with smoke.

Before that in just about every office most people smoked and they were quite often full of smoke.

One guy was infamous for smoking a pipe, he had his own office and it really was not a nice place to be, smelt like he used to put grass clipping s in it.
