So here, where we watch British TV shows, movies, etc, but have no "bobbies" on the streets (our police are different - not better or worse, just different) ...

We always hear them say:

"Wot's all this then?"

"Ullo ullo!"

"Evenin all!"

Are those from comic turns on the vaudeville stage from years back? Were real live police trained to say it? Or is it just sort of made up and no real copper ever said any of those?

Just wondering.
