Yep - I have recollections of Dad bringing a fresh unplucked / ungutted chicken home to Mum to prepare.

I can remember Mum plucking the chicken in the "conservatory" and the stench when she gutted and "drew" the innards out.

That would have been mid to late 60's.

Personally I could not do it.

Before my time I knew that Mum and Dad kept chickens specifically to eat as well as for the eggs.
