I'm about to pick up a pack of microfibre towels for the wiping bit. Car detailing sites stress wiping the residue off with a second cloth before the fluid dries. Isopropyl alcohol seems to be the degreaser of choice and is the main constituent of proprietary panel wipe fluids.

TBH, I'm wary of using T-Cut as it contains (or used to) petroleum distillates and is abrasive. Stuff I've read about applying waterslide transfers say apply to a gloss surface, to the extent one recommendation was to varnish the target area first, apply the transfer, then seal with another layer of varnish.

Oh well, I'll soon find out...
