There is some leeway for magistrates if the driver depends on a licence as a living. if he has no licence, at least he can claim social security benefits and sit on his arse for a year. his 10 k business loan can be written off if he stops the business. This Government has been very generous giving out money. he has also claimed Government grants for each lockdown.
yesterday, he mentioned that giving 6 months free MOTs last year cost him at least 3 days work out of 5 in repair work lost. Once that MOT game ran out, he was swamped by people for MOT all in the same week and the waiting list for an MOT was 1 Month.
It gets really crazy in small business. Today he has his own car to polish and wait if any customers come or phone.
Looks like, with all the laying off and lower pay, no one has money to spend on cars right now.
