Like others, I don't want to end up in a hospital in ANY climate.

Seriously, though. I can't speak for anyone else, but I started riding on the highways in 1970 (my God that was over 50 years ago!).

I've had 33 bikes, and (using some exact numbers and some conservative estimating for when I rode bikes with no speedometer), I've done about 500,000 miles on motorcycles, 90% of it in the Eastern half of the USA.

And in all that time and in all those miles, I have NEVER EVER NOT EVEN ONE TIME, NO NOT EVEN ONCE FOR A MINUTE graced the Emergency Room of a hospital because of an off on a bike. I got hit once by a drunk (long story that I'll tell someday) and fell on the ice once, but in the first case I walked home, and in the second case I rode home after bashing the levers back where I could use them.

I visited an Emergency Room in 1992 when my heart started racing to 280 beats per minute, and the doc had to stop it and restart it to get it timed right again, and you can take it from ME that that's one weird feeling! Otherwise, I've never been in one.

So is it really reasonable to not ride a motorcycle because you are afraid that you might "take up space" in the hospital? For me, riding a motorcycle is one of the LEAST likely events that might put me in the ER.

Sometimes you have to do the math, I think, and not go with the scary scenario ....
