Generally, it is the out of work people who are also drug dependent that steal in the UK.
It is also true that as drug dealers are no longer able to trade, that they delve into other crime to fund their lifestyle.
Many of the drug dealers and thieves are unemployed yet have considerable income.
When anyone gets to the bottom and has no food, quite a few would steal. Low crime area in my town but now young people are unable to work, there will be an increase in crime. Last year, i had my first attempted break in in 38 years here. I dot think that is because the burglar was working and wealthy.
Tools are the target here and usually from breaking into vehicles. Someone buys the tools and the money buys the drugs.
