On the road I live a two lane rat run through to the main roads a lady parks her car as do other.. She is the first parked car you come to coming up the hill.. She has had three cars written off in two years and two damaged a big protest was put up un the village and meetings with the police and council to try to make it safer.. Now I had to stick my oar in.. and quoted the Highway code saying it is OK to park on a main road as long as it doesn't interfere with the flow of the traffic.. I was shouted down by everyone as they had been doing it for years.. even the police agreed until I took them to the area where their is a cross hatched markings that allow a right turn the edges are broken lines so you can go into that area but the lines had almost disappeared because of the traffic being forced over the lines and the central line the cars being parked just past the Cross hatching.. So vehicals had to deviat.. Result nobody parks there now they use the car park or the side street..
Each accident involved a delivery van and two of them were on the phone.. But just proving people are not aware of the roads and law.. Smart motorways are lethal and hopefully they will be scrapped.. Often the overhead signs say Not in Use..
