Either side of the lane were some fairly high hedges and earth banks, I noticed something move out of the corner of my eye, next thing a deer leaped the hedge, and landed smack on the windscreen taking the windscreen out, luckily enough the deer rolled over the roof of the car and ended up in the lane behind.
Could have been very nasty if the bugger had come through the screen and inside the car.
Another time on a local A road I was riding the 612 Bullet before I fitted a disk brake to the front. I was cracking along at around 55 /60 when a young deer came through the hedge 25 or so yards in front of me.
Pulling with all my might on the brake lever I knew I would not stop in time so I took a chance that the deer which was now standing on the other side of the road would stay put - luckily it did, nearly resulted in an early change of underpants I can tell you.
There is a local road wiith woods either side which is notorious for deer jumping out, I always ride with extreme caution if I ever venture out that way.
