>product sold to me by well know UK importer/ tool dealer , part is grey import , not supported in uk by any other person than importer
Legally, your dispute is with the retailer you paid; don't get involved in any crap about "support only from the importer", you'll end up bouncing between the retailer and the importer.
Any sale is governed by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. As that link shows, all goods, services and digital content must be, "of satisfactory quality", "fit for purpose" - which what you've bought obviously isn't - and "as described".
As what you've bought fails at least one of the CRA tests, ask for your money back from the retailer; i.e. the company you paid. If the retailer isn't helpful, if you paid with a credit card, contact specifically the credit card company, not the bank, even if they appear to be one and the same (e.g. Barclays and Barclaycard might appear to be one and the same but, in the event of a Section 75 dispute, it's Barclaycard you contact, not Barclays the bank).
"Section 75" is of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, makes the credit card company jointly liable with the retailer for purchases between £100 and £30,000. Ime, it's wise to spend a few minutes reading, say, https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/section-75-of-the-c before contacting the card company - some 'phone answerers can dish out bum information; if you're well-informed, you can tell 'em to check with someone more senior. E.g. one tried to tell me I had to exhaust the retailer's dispute procedure before I could start a S75 claim, which I knew wasn't true. In my case (swmbo's case), the credit card company contacting the retailer suddenly made the retailer more helpful ...
If you didn't pay with a credit card, banks have a "clawback" procedure, but I've never used it. The alternative is the Small Claims Court, you can fill out the form online but you must be able to show you've exhausted the retailer's dispute procedure before starting with the SCC.
>is it me or is it sealey that have been "conned"
>after blah, blah, blah
Nothing to do with you, not your problem. Your only problem is you bought something, it doesn't work, you want your money back; your dispute is with whoever you paid your money to.
>Complex.
No, simple, if Alan can focus. Four rambling posts in two hours ...
>CAB are closed due to lockdown here
CAB are available on the 'phone. However, they don't do anything, only advise, and they'll advise you the above.
Hth.
