Friday was cold & overcast - 5 degrees C at 10.30ish when we started out, getting to a high of around 11 (I put a combined clock/voltmeter/temp guage on Mrs B's R65LS so she was calling the temps). 178 miles in the day in the Yorkshire Dales, with a lunch stop in Masham. Weather improved to partly cloudy by mid afternoon, but came noticably colder by 5ish when we got back. Usuall excessive Police activity on the A65 from Ingleton down to Skipton - normally I don't see a road Policing vehicle from one month to the next, but there were 4 cars & 2 bikes in a 20 mile or so stretch + a camera van.
Sunday it was a trip around the Yorkshire Wolds, with a lunch stop in Bridlington on the East coast. Warmer (10 degrees to start & up to 14 by lunchtime) with largely clear blue skies & a bit of high altitude light cloud later. Bit of a stiff headwind came up on the way home. 179 miles in the day, though less time on the road as the roads are more open & generally quicker. A lot of bikes out & the "biker stops" at Seaways Cafe (Fridaythorpe) and Fimber were busy - we pulled in to the carpark at Fimber but left when we couldn't find a space. Passed Squires Cafe at Sherburn-in-Elmet on the way back home, but they had not opened - probably as they would have been over-run otherwise - so had to wait until we got home for a cuppa. Only saw two camera vans on the run.
The Interceptor felt pretty much as I recall it doing last year & Mrs B reported the BMW didn't take much getting back into - though after 34 years and coming up on 100K miles it should feel familiar.
Bright and summy today, but with a dusting of snow on the ground when I got up and the high supposed to be only 5 degrees. As it is forecast to be -3 tonight, washing the bikes will have to wait as I don't want the drive to become an ice rink overnight.
Felt good to be out on the bike again, but I can feel the bits I don't get to excercise when not riding !
