Re: I`ve done it again.
i love diesels and had them since 1996. This time, i wanted a Volvo and they no longer make diesel models at all. I had worked out the difference in purchase price and the petrol model will actually cost less this time. I got 3000 pounds discount being a mild hybrid. I like it with 200bhp and it is the quietest car i have ever had. Should be i suppose at retail price of 38k. I tried all the Kia models and my arms did not fit the armrests. Maybe built for smaller oriental people. Kia has made much better quality lately and not a budget build now.
Oddly with the Volvo petrol cars, the 2 litre uses less fuel than the 1.5 litre.
Part of the highish fuel consumption is the car is auto. Next car will be 2023 and a petrol hybrid. Not a plug in hybrid yet due to parking out in the road. I would have to build another garage to get it off road or sell all my bikes. That is not going to happen any time soon.
My new Ford Escort 1300 bought in 1983 and 69bhp would do just over 30 mpg with a maximum of 40 mpg id keeping under 60 mph. Volvo now looks economical pulling 2 tons 200 bhp and 2 litre.
