After I finished school one of my mate came around showing off is James Captain and I said that I had been riding for years around the back garden..So this spurred me on and I taxed it and got a provisional and insurance then took to the road..my other school friend bought a James Commodor brand new ..so we used to go around the area getting further a field we used to visit old wartime aerodromes. Once pronged it on a bend writing off the front forks so replaced them with some pressed steel Webb forks and bent them a few times ..the flywheel used to come off regularly ..
I used the bike to go to work in Chiswick by this time it had drop bars and a home made racing seat ..I couldn't keep up with my mates so bought a 1948 AJS 350 reputedly sand raced in the Channel Islands bought with the Bank of mum and passed my test on it..I could then beat my mates..
The FB was broken up and buried in the back garden...
The story goes on but won't bore you anymore..
