The best of plans... or over-preperation?

Yesterday evening I had everything planned out for today. Clean the bike thoroughly; run a check on the electrics; deal with some surface rust, most notably on the luggage rack; re-set the rear suspension up one notch (as an experiment); and apply, with great care, the tank transfers that arrived in the post last week. Then - and only then - would I consider going out for a ride (if I had time).
This morning, I threw my bike gear on as soon as I was up, chucked a few bits in a rucksack and buggered off to the Old Stores Motorcycle Cafe in North Wales.
I'll suffer in the long run. But I bet I'm not the only one to have done this when good biking weather turns up.
