"Won't run on it" is an exaggeration. They WILL run on it, just not as well as on straight gasoline. Fuel mileage goes down by 5 or 10%, and the ethanol rots any rubber or plastic items in the fuel system. It increases rust and clogging problems in carburetors.
Other than that, it's just hunky-dory. I don't use it except when I have to on a trip; I fuel at home from a drum of real gasoline.
