Probably will be by the time I have fitted this lot !
1 pair Continental ContiGO! for the Interceptor & 1 pair Avon Roadrider 2 for the Classic 500.
The OEM Pirelli Phantom SportsComps handled fine wet or dry, but both rears "only" did 4000 miles & the front is pretty well down to the wear bars at 8000. I have run ContiGO!s (yes, that is the name - complete with exclamation mark) on a number of other bikes & they have been fine also. And they were a bit less expensive than the Pirellis.
I have not bought Avon tyres since around 1982, when I used Roadrunners on a Suzuki GS425E. Both my 4 speed Bullets had Speedmaster fronts / SM rears as OE & they seemed OK - certainly not as bad as the "SkidMaster" moniker would have it. The Roadriders were OE fitment to UK Classic 500s, but it was rather a case of Hobson's Choice when trying to find a pair of the correct size from one manufacturer anyway - Avon or Avon !
I got them from an outfit called Tyretec Trading via the net - ordered late Sunday evening online, they arrived before lunch today, delivered direct from Cambrian Tyres (Contis) and Cooper Tyres (Avons). They are all quite recent production - the oldest being the Conti rear at week 40 last year & the newest the Avon front at the week before last.
Still awaiting the tubes, which may not get here before the weekend. I usually fit my own tubed tyres to "keep my hand in". There is a guy local-ish who will fit to loose wheels, but it would be at least 2 trips of 5 miles EW through a built-up area, so I will probably have them swapped over at home in less than the travel + waiting time.
