Anyway, mine started to squeak from the rear end yesterday, having a spare couple of hours this morning I stripped out the swinging arm, and suspension linkage.
Seems that what I have read is right, it looks like my bearings were wiped over with an oily rag at best, very light on lubrication.
Put it all back together with liberal amounts of grease, and yes the squeak has gone.
Next job will be the steering head bearings - I did notice that when I did the front wheel bearing that the head was a little tight, as they failed the test to go from lock to lock under their own weight, in fact with the wheel off the ground you could feel they were tight, suspect these may also be suffering from lack of grease.
