You would hope that things will be back to normal by then, though if some of the so-called experts hve their way I'm sure they will drag things on interminably.
Just gone 40 years since we took our first tentative steps "over there" for 3 weeks touring - two up on a grossly overloaded Suzuki GS425E, we ended up in Grimaud near St. Tropez via the "old" Route Napoleon from Grenoble. Went back 20 years ago (Deauville + R65LS) along the same route & found the Route Napoleon to be mainly dual carriageway & no where near as interesting / exiting / occasionally terrifying as the "old" route. Such is progress I suppose.
Don't go to France now very much for a couple of reasons - mainly beacuse we "discovered" Germany, Austria & Northern Italy (where the locals are generally more friendly & accomodating than the French) but also because I have never forgiven the b*st*rds for nicking my CX500 in St. Etienne in 1983 - not that I hold a grudge or anything !
Latest update from my brother was that it took an hour from getting off the boat in Europort to clearing the Border Police & getting on the road. The Police apparently not interested in seeing the supposedly mandatory Dutch online pre-registration stating they were "in transit" & not staying in Holland, just wanted to see the NHS proof of vaccination documents & passports to stamp as having entered the Schengen Area. Got to his friends near Munich by 18.30, so he wasn't hanging about & not too many holdups due to works etc.
