Most manufacturers are building bikes in third world countries so the only way Chinese brands can sell cheaper is to give you less quality, as the labour cost is the same.
Once you have bought a bike the initial cost is soon forgotten, replaced by the experience of running it. These low quality rip offs and offerings usually have lower service intervals like 3000 miles and a lower service life.
There is a copy of the CB500x on offer for 1K less than the Honda (called a VOGE in this country). I think that 1K premium is an absolute bargain, as it buys you nearly 3 times the service interval, impeccable build quality, an astonishingly long service life and a healthy resell value. Still, lots of people still buy the cheapest of everything fixated on the purchase price regardless whether or not it is the best package. Buyer beware.
