It is worth thinking about deterrents before this happens. Cheap to install and less than what they will damage getting in.
Dummy alarm boxes, signs, fake TV light on timer, random clock controlled lights and automatic outside lighting.
I have a 4 camera system, multiple locks on doors, sensors inside that turn on lights and music systems and a strobe light that lights up the street if they want to come in.
Just get some sort of system before you suffer like he is at 74 year old.
Even just CCTV signs on the entrances will make them move on to another house.
My garage is almost burglar proof with a 2 layer roof in steel. dead bolts, microwave and PIR detectors plus door contacts 115db siren. Touching either door with a hand will switch on lights and very loud music from a stereo system.
Just messes their idea up a bit.
