They are very capable on road as well - in fact I've not taken mine off road and probably won't; the unclassified roads - the ones with grass in the middle of the tarmac are as bad as it gets, However, I'm in Scotland and there are no RUPPS or greenlanes as there are in England and Wales.
I like the riding position for the twisty narrow roads, I had a Le Mans which was brilliant, but it was an A-road bike and less fun on the C-roads. I like the fuel economy 72 mpg is normal and I don't think I'll lose much in changing bike, I did about the same on the 55m test ride (I filled up 3.5l). I like being more upright than crouching and while I don't like being on tippy toes when stopped, I do like the fact that you can get lowered seats.
The stable for 2022 will be a Dominator 99 and a BMW F750GS and if anyone is interested in a 20 yr old F650GS with 40k on it, just ask
