I can already tell that (once I can't get out any more, whether in a nursing home or my own home, whichever fate sends me), I will appreciate a visit more than anything else that anyone could do for me.
My mom was in an assisted living place when she was 82; she could still get out if someone took her. For Mother's Day, we found a nice dude her own age who had a 1939 Chevrolet just like her parents had when she was 14 years old.
He picked her up in the Chevy, all her friends standing at the door cheering, and drove her to lunch about 40 miles away, we following in another car. She talked about that the rest of her days ....
