Very good point ref taxation.
In true Civil Service style I won't get the exact figures until around 4 - 6 weeks before my last day, but I will have a meeting with a mate I know who deals in such things.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement and now I have the enforced early retirement squared away in my head, I am looking forward to my next chapter.
