Funny Yesterday as i drove through the village of Newton Poppleford. There was a police staff man along with about 10 villagers being trained to use a speed camera. These people then spend all day out on the grass verge shooting pictures. Then, if you speed a little bit, a letter comes through saying they cannot prosecute you but tell you off. 30mph limit on a downhill stretch and i have never heard of an accident here yet. It gives the pensioners a purpose though. Last time, it was East Budliegh and the volunteers soon lost the will to stand outside all day.
I did get one of the letters as i was doing 34 mph. I try never to speed in these villages due to elderly and children anyway.
East Budliegh did happen to have a fatal crash a few months back in a 30 limit. Young man drove into a house wall at high speed so speeding does happen at times.
