Puch sports mopeds current when I started riding in 1976 were eye-wateringly expensive compared to the Japanese bikes - IIRC the basic version with drum brakes & wire wheels was 50% more than an FS1E. I got to have a ride & do a bit of work on a "basic" model (rather than the black-and-gold JPS versions with disk brake & cast wheels) - one of my fellow apprentices at "first-year-off-the-job" training school had one.
The "worked on" bit came about after some of the other apprentices carried it up a flight of steps, started it & left it ticking over - no ignition switch, just a cut-out button. So as a project, the instructor had us modify the wiring to fit an FS1E ignition switch, which has two sets of contacts (one normally open in the battery lead & one normally closed in parallel with the cutout button to kill the ignition). Didn't stop it being carried up a flight of stairs, but did prevent it being started.
