Part way round a short-ish (95 mile) bimble following me on the Classic 500, at a comfort break I noticed it was marking it's territory & at lunch she said it smelled of burning oil. On returning home, there was fresh oil on the sump extension under the gearbox - crank oil seal gone.
Not an expensive part, but the flywheel, clutch pressure plate & drivshaft are all "one time" bolts (about 3 times the cost of the seal) & it is a PITA of a job to do.
So much for the "new, improved design, genuine BMW oil seal that will outlast the bike" that was fitted last time.
