We have a pub fairly locally, and for many many years it was called the "Cannards Grave Inn" - named after Tom Cannard who I believe was the last person to be hung for sheep stealing in Britain.

They changed it's name to the "Cannards Well Inn" a few years back, aparrently the owners of the place decided having "Grave" in the name of the pub was putting off people visiting.

Would not put me off, but perhaps I am not taht picky.
