Yesterday evening rain, and very cool, more rain overnight.
Up this morning, mainly grey with sunny intervals, windy and cold for the time of year.
Ah well Glastonbury festival next week so it will probably piddle with rain.
Woke up early this morning hoping to go out for a early morning ride, as it was way too cold / wiindy, spent 3 hours sorting out the DT 400 lighting, CDI source coil and pulse coils.
It is all located under a cover on the LH side of the bike, as part of the refurb I took it off last week, glad I did as there was a lot of corrosion in there.
Aparrently it is mainly caused by condensation when damp gets into the cases.
Pulled everything apart - flywheel off, all coils disconnected, cleaned / re connected, additional earth wires added, also most of the screws holding the coils to the backplate twisted off when I tried to undo them - after a session with the blowlamp and WD40 the broken stubs came out.
Just need some long M5 screws to finish the job, and then re time it.
It was running Ok when I bought it but doing what I did was needed mainly to get rid of all the corrosion, but it would have been a matter of time before one of the connections broke down.
Refitted all screws so far using copper grease and after cleaning the corrosion off the aluminium parts gave it a coating of ACF50.
Who needs a signature anyway......
