Indeed I can remember Dad wrestling with the massive steering wheels on those old trucks with him providing the power.

The trucks that he drove before he retired were a world away from those he drove most of his working life.

He really used to enjoy driving the more modern trucks - when he started driving most of them did not even have heaters so he used to wrap an old blanket around his legs to keep him warm on long cold drives, then there was the ice on the INSIDE of the screen to contend with.

Dad had some great stories of driving old trucks, and I was lucky enough to go on some long drives with him in them - mainly the AECs, but also a couple of Dennis's, Bedfords, Scammels and ERFs.

They were great times and are very precious memories.
