My brother in NZ suffered one of those last year - collapsed coming home from work. After an ambulance hadn't arrived after 2 hours (not just here with such problems ! ) & feeling a bit better he took himself to A & E, where the specialist told him he was lucky to have survived it. He is on the blood thinners (also for the duration) & has had no further problems. He hasn't said anything about not driving (non motorcyclist) & still working as before.

Hopefully the hospital will get you sorted, get you home soon and you will be able to carry on as before with suitable medication. Don't start writing things of at this stage, concentrate on getting well again.
