If you must have proof of insurance, even though you are prepared to travel without it, surely you just lie through your teeth saying that you are fit as a flea to enable to get the certificate you need as you have no intention of using it?
No doubt Jimmy will weigh in and say that is illegal.

I also have a useful power pack which turns over my 1100 lump with no problem, although the ruddy bike is in having its rectifier/ regulator looked at again.
