I received a letter from DVLA on Saturday informing me they had got my Licence Application and were contacting my Consultant. They also stated I may be eligible to drive under s88 of the RTA whilst they process my application. There was a strict list of criteria that must be met to qualify under s88. Most were easily explained, and only 2 parts caused me slight hesitation.
1/ My Dr must have stated that I am fit to drive, and
2/ My licence must not have been revoked or refused for medical reasons.
My Neuro Dr had told me verbally I am fit to drive and that he will support my application. I emailed him on Saturday to confirm this in writing and I spoke with DVLA today to confirm that as I had voluntarily surrendered my licence then the 2nd concern did not apply to me. They confirmed that was correct, so just waiting on my Consultant getting back to me and I'm good to go......

.
In anticipation/celebration of this, I had got my Hinckley Bonnie up and running and gave it a clean on saturday. I had bought a set of s/s downpipes and fitted them. Not too sure about them. When they arrived I thought they felt very light in comparison to the stainless set I had bought for the T160, and when I fired the bike up on saturday they seemed to 'yellow' quite quickly...not impressed
I also had a look at my T160. With it sitting for so long it had wet sumped, so because of the exhaust pipes, it is so bluddy awkward to drain the sump even with the LP Williams modified sump plate fitted, I thought I'd just kick it over and let the pump do the work.......The bike started and I watched oil start to return. I switched it off and tried to kick it over again, but no movement on the kickstart...I suspected a hydraulic lock so ended up having to drain the oil anyway. I also noted a load of oil coming out the airbox, where the breather is

. Once I drained the oil and filled the tank the hydraulic lock had gone and the bike started again, although some oil still came out the breather. I'm hoping this was just the remains ofthe first dump
Lessons to be learned there. Laziness is a sin and hopefully I only paid a small price for that....
