Post-WW2, as Doncaster and other LNER Works caught up with the maintenance backlog, loco being dismantled for a heavy general overhaul, it was a not-irregular occurrence for frames cracked badly enough to simply collapse in a heap when the boiler was removed ... 
New frames fabricated ...
That's one of the reasons I asked my earlier question ...
