Jerry - it was most negligent of me not to have emphasised one vital point. Taking statins does NOT mean that one has to abstain from alcohol.
A few years ago I picked up my fortnightly supply from the pharmacy, then nipped into the Wetherspoons on t'other side of the road and washed one of the tablets down with a pint of Wells Bombardier.
Perhaps my GP wouldn't have approved, but I survived.
