I had a blood test last year for my PSA, but they also did cholesterol test at the same time. A couple of weeks later I got a letter through telling me to loose weight (I'm 10 stone!), take more exercise (I cycle 70 miles a week) and to start on Statins. I threw it in the bin. I had the same thing 5 years ago and that time I was called in to see the GP. He said, "I don't know why you've been sent to see me. Your cholesterol level is a bit high, but most of it is good cholesterol, so there's no problem at all."

I think the NHS may be on a bung from pharmacy companies for dishing these things out - they certainly seem to give them out like smarties at a kiddies party...
