I was put on them 20+ years ago when diagnosed with elevated cholesterol levels. My father had had a heart attack due to high cholesterol when I was in my early 30s & we (myself & siblings) were advised to have cholesterol checked regularly. I was fine until I hit 40-ish, then levels started to rise.

Change of diet made no difference, so prescribed the lowest dose of Simvastatin. Fine for a couple of years, then cholesterol levels raised again. Dose of Simvastatin doubled & that was when the fatigue & muscle aches started. Changed to Rosuvostatin & fatigue and muscle aches remained. Came off statins and on to alternative, non-statin, cholesterol control medication & fatigue / aches went.

Statins seem to work fine for some but not for others - you won't know which group you come in to until you try.
