High tec gone mad. I have an internal screen that updates fuel use every 10 miles and plots it on a graph so you can try and improve performance but what the hell good is that.


When I was a consultant at The Transport Systems Catapult I worked with a lady called Ruth who does engine control systems for a living. She says the instant fuel readings most cars give should be treated with a pinch of salt. Error band is ~50%.

It all evens out over time so the overall figure won't be too far out. Maybe that's why your car now gives a figure over 10 miles
