BMW have a cute trick on one of the tourers. It has "keyless ride" so you just need to have the key with you to start the bike, open the fuel tank or lock the steering. However the panniers need the physical key so it still has to come out the pocket.

Never mind, BNW have a handy little fairing compartment to keep the key in.

Of course, you'll never forget to open that compartment to take the key with you will you. Of course, you'll never leave your bike with the key hidden in it and unlocked would you... oh no ... never
