As I was getting my breakfast ready this morning - a soft boiled and compulsory toast soldiers, it crosssed my mind just how many seperate activities are needed to produce such a simple breakfast:

1. Get egg from cupoard
2. Get saucepan from cupboard
3. Get knife to cut top off egg and spoon from kitched drawer
4. Put water in saucepan
5. Turn on cooker / light gas
6. Put pan onto boil
7. Once boiling set timer and put egg in
8. Get bread from bread bin
9. Put into toatser after getting it from kitchen cupboard
10. Get butter from fridge
11. Butter toast
12. Cut into soldiers
13. Get egg cup from cupboard
14. Take egg out of saucepan when timer goes off
15. Get plate from cupboard
16. Assemble egg cup and soldiers onto plate
17. Go get salt and pepper (boiled egg is not right without salt / ppepper)
18. Remove top of egg
19. Eat
20. Wash up plate, egg cup, knife, saucepan
21. Put butter back into fridge
22. Put toaster away

Just makes you realise that to carry out such a simple operation there are a whole load of things that have to be done.

Perhaps I need one of those time and motion blokes (anyone remember them) to look at the process and see if ti can be improved upon.

There is always option B - get the Mrs to do it

Anyone care to list out the operations involved in a simple task like chaging the oil in their bike - and I dont mean take to dealer then collect from dealer.

Ah well it is Sunday morning and I am at a loose end.........
