An easy way to `poach` an egg is to fill a glass with water to about 1 inch/30ml from the brim, break the egg into the glass and place it in the microwave oven for about 1 minute, maybe more depending on the oven's Wattage (mine is 700 W). Pour the water out and catch the egg in a slotted ladle.
NB, keep an eye on it the first time in case it boils over; adjust the time or water level to suit.
