Not saying I was better or perfect. Just saying it doesn't have to be that way.
My very first 300 mile ride into the mountains, when I was 17, on my Yamaha 200cc twin. Riding the curves and switchbacks, when a 250 Ducati single passed me just flying. I tried for a minute to keep up, but soon relaxed back to my usual ride.
Twenty minutes later, come across a knot of stopped cars. Got off and walked up; there was the Ducati in the grill of a big ambulance in the left (bike on the wrong side) lane.
Didn't see the rider until I realized that the unrecognizable pile of cloth and blood was him. Gone in a fraction of a second, for what?
Not everyone is suicidal at that age. No one had to tell me not to drive drunk, or stay off the dope. I remember the 70s....
