I have a recollection of staying in a small hotel in Barcelonette at the foot of the Col de la Bonette pass & seeing pretty much every balcony had inside-out leathers draped over the balcony railings ! And, on an earlier trip, traversing the autobahn "Transit Route" through the DDR to West Berlin, with my leathers jacket main & cuffs zips partially undone & holding a mirror (BMW R100RS) to try & get some air through the suit (Belstaff two piece leathers) in mid-30s temperatures to try to cool down - the exit airflow through the collar was like having a hairdryer pointed at my neck - really not fun!
Modern, type approved, textile gear is so much more comfortable & is arguably as safe for a road going rider these days. Plus it has the benefit of not requiring you to have to don an un-breathable waterproof bag over your overheated, leather-clad person when the weather turns inclement.
