It was along a busy main road, but fairly flat with a few bends so I started pushing, as there was no place to leave it or pull in to take a look at it. I thought that if I coukld make it to the village I could fine someplace to take a look at it.
After about 20 mins I am sweating from every orifice when a van goes past, toots his horn and stops a few yards ahead.
Bloke gets out and says "want a lift" too bloody right I do.
Anyway the bloke had ramps in the back of his van, and as we were loading it up some jerk goes past in a van shouting abuse - although I felt like yelling go f**k yourself I resisted.
Long story short bloke dropped me off at home.
Turns out he was 85 and gave up bikes 10 years ago, we spent ages talking bikes, what a gent - had some great stories.
He said he always stops to help anyone broken down on a bike as he knows what it is like to break down on a bike.
Despite me offering he would not accept a tenner for his troubles.
KH is now fixed, turns out it was one of the 40+ year old connections to the CDI source coil that had failed, took it to bits gave the terminal a good clean up and re soldered with a nice hook joint and heat shrink sleeving. Good for the next 40 years.
I was very lucky that it did not fail during my 120 mile Spirit of the 60's run. But they do have a recovery vehicle.
Think I will sleep well tonight after pushing it for something like a mile or so.
Who needs a signature anyway......
